Hi, I’m Andrew.
I’m about halfway through my life. 42 years old to be precise. Outside of an unexpected accident, I imagine the ‘about’ is mostly dependent on where I net out with drinking in the coming years. Otherwise I’ll live somewhere into my 80s based on genetics and overall averages for my demographic.
At home I’m a father of 2 and I’ve been married 15-ish years. I think I’m a decent husband and father. You’d have to ask my wife and kids.
Outside of the home:
- I’ve been lucky enough to start and sell a few businesses including SmartThings, which we sold to Samsung in 2014, SMBLive, which we sold to ReachLocal in 2010, and Mural Consulting, which we continue to operate. I consider myself an entrepreneur.
- I’ve competed in a number of ultra races, including Ironman triathlons, 50K and 50M runs, 120 mile TransRockies stage race, and inaugural 2017 Spartan Iceland Ultra World Championship. In January I will be competing in the 2018 World Marathon Challenge. Later in 2018 I will compete in the Ultra 520K triathlon in Canada and the Moab 240. I consider myself an ultra-athlete.
- I just published my first novel. I consider myself an author in training at best.
On andhesays.com I share thoughts on how I’m learning to take it all a little less seriously. As I enter the second half of my life, I want to be a bit more like my pets in this picture. I want to enjoy life a bit more, be a little less reactive, and laugh a decent amount.
To put that in perspective, Lulu, the dog in this picture passed away last year. She had a great life. We got a new dog. The cat is taking this development WAY too seriously. I want to be the cat in the sunbeam, not the cat staring daggers. Actually, I want to be the dog in either case.
